New Trachea ALS Update

July 26, 2011 at 8:02 2 comments

I get my breath on my own with help from oxygen or from ventilator while I sleep. The ventilator will be the breath of life for me when my diaphragm quits.

Ventilator is grace to me. Only 5% of ALS patience choose this option. I go to Mechanicsburg Hospital to orient Debbie how care for the ventilator.

Paul, I may have mentioned to you Isaiah 1:22 in which God told the prophet not to fear man, “Stop regarding man whose breath of life is in his nostrils; for why should he be esteemed?” (NAS) My life is in my nostrils and if I do not get the next breath, I’m outta here. God’s word to Isaiah helps me to identify with you and how fragile life is. May God give you comfort and freedom from fear.

Karen asked me to send you and your family her love too.

I love you, brother and best friend,

    Dick
