The Righteousnes of God

God gave Moses the law and God gave the Apostle Paul a righteousness that comes from faith.  The two are against each other but are complimentary to each other.

The law teaches us we are sinners incapable of keeping the law.  The Gospel tells us our righteousness comes from faith in Jesus Christ, the righteous for the unrighteous (I Peter 3:18).

When Christ died on the cross for those who would believe he forgave them from all their sins ending God’s wrath for them.   Our Father also gave us Christ’s righteousness.  So when God looks at us we are holy in his sight like his Son.

When we believe the Holy Spirit is given to us who works to give us the fruits of the Spirit.  But the fruits of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control . Against such things there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23)

The Holy Spirit makes us obedient children and when do not obey he his faithful to forgive our sins (I John 1:9). When we confess our sins to him we can live in peace and joy and full of love.
