David & Megan’s Tiny Baby Joanna

We are so thankful that God has given us much to celebrate on this day.  We write this update just after returning from the hospital (yesterday) where I (Megan) was again able to hold our dear little Joanna.  And, although her vocal cords are still bruised from the ventilator tube, I had the pleasure of hearing the faintest little whimper escape from her mouth. As she snuggled up into my chest and her tiny hand grasped my little finger, I marveled at God’s majesty and grace in creating such a beautiful and precious child — no wonder why Jesus cherished little children the way He did!

Once again, thank you for your faithful care and walking with us through this difficult time.  Thank you for your prayers — listen to how God has faithfully answered them:

–We asked you to pray for the yeast infection in her body and brain.  Her blood cultures have been clear for over a week now, and her recent CAT scan showed no yeast OR structural damage to her brain!  Joanna will remain on the anti-fungal medication for the next week as a precaution.

–We asked you to pray for the continued development of her lungs.  Joanna has been taken off the ventilator (last Monday) has been placed on the bi-pap, where over half of her breathing is coming from HER, and not a machine!

–We asked you to pray that she would gain more weight —  Joanna is up to 2lbs, 6oz.

–We asked you to pray for the valve in her heart, which was starting to cause more serious problems.  The medication has so far reduced the valve to half the original size.
Please continue to pray:

–that Joanna would gain weight steadily, and that she would not retain water in her body, (which puts pressure on her heart and lungs).

–The the valve in her heart would close completely, and no further intervention would be needed.

–for Joanna’s eyes, which the doctor has some concerns about and anticipate her needing eye surgery in the near future.  He will follow up with her this Friday.

Please, pray for tiny Joanna and for Megan and Dave.  When she was born she weighed a little over a pound.  If you pick up a pound of butter that was what Joanna weighed now she weighs two pounds of butter and two sticks.

13 As a father has compassion on his children,
     so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;
 for he knows how we are formed,
     he remembers that we are dust.
 As for man, his days are like grass,
     he flourishes like a flower of the field;
 the wind blows over it and it is gone,
     and its place remembers it no more.
 But from everlasting to everlasting
     the LORD’s love is with those who fear him,
     and his righteousness with their children’s children–
 with those who keep his covenant
     and remember to obey his precepts.

Psalms 103:13-18 (NIV)
