Submission & Repentance

Jesus said, “If you brother sins against you, go and show him is fault, just between the two of you. If he listens you, you have won your brother back. But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that every matter may be established by the of two or three witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the whole Church; and if he refuses to even the Church, treat him like tax collector.

I tell you the truth, what ever you bind on earth will bound in Heaven, and whatever loose on earth will be loosed in Heaven.  Again, I tell that if two of you agree about anything you ask for, it will done for you by Father in Heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there I am with you.”

This is the way Jesus Christ wants us to make sure purity and peace of the Church. When someone offends you go to her privately discuss the matter with them privately. If she does not admit the wrong and repent then bring two or three with you to win your friend back. If they do not listen to the three of you is should brought to session and then session will bring it to the congregation when everything has been investigated and all the charges are made final. Most discipline will be not necessary if between two people they would submit to each other were confession if made and forgiveness it give to one another. If people are refusing to confess their sins they stay prideful and unrepentant it will go to the congregation. The miss deed becomes public if they still will not repent the congregation will cast out by erasing their name from the membership book. Our goal is to lead the person conviction of his sin.

This is process takes many months. Some are being disciplined for an extended period of time or until they remain unrepentant. We do not in rush to get rid of people. We want to reconciliation between the two persons. We need to be humble, loving and patient when dealing with unrepentant people. J C Ryle a Puritan said, leave not a rock unturned to help the person to repent.
