Trials and Hardships

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trails of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.  perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.  James 1:2-4

Is any one of you in trouble?  He should pray.  Is any one of you sick?  He should call the elders of the Church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.  And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up.   If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.    Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.  The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.                   James 5:13-16

When we run into hard times or sickness prayer is the answer.   Trusting in God’s promises for us and believing He loves us will get us through the toughest of times.  This does not matter if our hard times was in our past or ongoing.   Our Lord has promised to heal us so come to him with our hurts and with all your pain and cry out to him to rescue us.  He will come.

Trials and hardships are used by our Lord to sanctify us.   We learn to trust him as we watch him time after time come to our aid.  The place where our help comes from is from the Lord.  Whether it is healing broken hearts or broken bodies he will come and rescue us.  His intention is not to heal us  just in heaven  but to heal us emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually in the here and now.

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever.         Galatians 1:3-4

“Come, let us return to the Lord.  He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds.  After two days he will revive us; on the third day he will restore us, that we may live in his presence.  Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge him.  As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.”  Hosea 6:1-3

Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken of God, smitten by him, and afflicted.  But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.  Isaiah 53:4-5
