Suffering

When people suffer some of us cry out to God and ask why?  Others say suffering proves there is no god at all.

My reponse to suffering is that it is God’s way glorifying himself in a believer toward heaven or in a non-believer  toward hell in judgment.    The Bible teaches that God decides when and how we die.  For instance God has decided to take my life using ALS and I am ok with that because I am sure of my Fathers love for me.  God uses suffering in the Christian’s life to get our attention or to rebuke us to get us to repent.   C. S. Lewis said, that suffering in the Christian’s life is the megaphone that God uses to get our attention.

But I trust in you, O Lord; I say, “You are my God.”  My times are in your hands;  Psalm 31:14

Sometimes there is suffering that is hard sense out of.   Let me give two real examples:  At a school in Russia  a few years ago rebels took over the school and they wired it with explosives.  When the Russian police stormed the school they rebels blew the building up killing all the children and their teachers.   Another one…a girl was taken away from her home due to physical abuse later a judge sent her back home.  Shortly after she arrived home her father beat her unconscious using a baseball bat crushing her skull.  She is still alive breathing on her own with no conscious thoughts the Drs. think.  These two stories I cannot write or talk about usaullay because they both make burst into tears.  Both of these events were cause by wicked men.   The girls father should have been shot on the spot.  Our nation has aborted countless millions of  unborn babies of which our nation will pay a price.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”  Matthew 19:14

Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them.  They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate.  Psalm 127:5

Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are a the pride of their children.   Proverbs 17:6

Many Christians are torchered, burned alive, buried alive, shot, beheaded, pulled apart, read Hebrews 11 or  read Fox’s Book of Maryters or the history of the Hugenots in France.  Christians that have known the love of their Redeember can endure suffering and death assured that nothing in all creation can separate them from the love of God.  When you are a follower of Jesus Christ for many years he proves himself to be faithful and that strengthens our trust in him so when we are ready to die we are unafraid.   He knows us and we have learned to know him.

Precious is the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.  Psalm 116:15

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.  Psalm 23:6

Paul – You are a blessing! Thank you. It is obvious that you are much loved.
