Our Help Comes from the Lord

I have been wanting to read the book I am reading for a long time just because of it’s title.  A Long Obedience in the Same Direction by Eugene Peterson.

“The Psalmist is not a person talking about the good life, how God has kept him out of all difficulty.  This person has gone through the worse–the dragon’s mouth, the floods torrent–and finds himself intact.   He was not abondoned but helped.  The final strength is not in the dragon or in the flood but in God who “didn’t go off and leave us.”   Read Psalm 124

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle humble heart, and you will find rest for you souls. Matthew 11:29 Suffering
